Day Services

With effect from the week commencing the 21st. April 2012, we are delighted that we are now offering the following new services:

The "Decaf Club"
This Club is available to anyone coping with the frustrations of living with memory problems. The sessions will be supervised by Samantha Gould B.Sc (Hons) M.Sc MBPSS, our Operations Manager, who holds a Masters Degree in Psychology, and who has an interest is in Dementia/ Alzheimer's Disease.
Sam was a "Dementia Champion" in her previous post and has lectured on the subject.

Working in small, informal groups of clients (up to a maximum of 6) we aim to provide:

  • Assistance in providing a better understanding of Dementia/ Alzheimer's Disease
  • Guidance on how to cope with the difficulties of everyday living with this condition
  • Assistance in maintaining our clients' mental fitness

Initially, sessions will be on a Wednesday from 10.15-2.15pm. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. The Club is open to those who are not currently clients of T.L.C Home Care Services.

The "Cuppa Club"
Many clients who live alone have told us that they feel isolated from their community. The purpose of the Cuppa Club is to enable such clients to join us for social interaction with others in a similar situation to themselves, though the Club is open to those who are not currently clients of T.L.C Home Care Services. Many people cannot cope with the long day experienced by those attending one of the larger day centres. Our Club is perfect for those wanting a shorter period away from home in a less formal environment.

In small, informal groups of up to 6 clients, our service aims to:

  • Bring people together in a relaxed, friendly environment.
  • Provide interesting, age- appropriate activities including occasional guest speakers. Whenever possible, the activities of the Club will be chosen by the Club members themselves.
  • Give an opportunity to talk about subjects of mutual interest.
  • Offer support to those who live alone and signpost them, if required, to where other support can be obtained

Initially, sessions will be on a Monday from 10.15-2.15pm. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Family Carer Support Group
We are also hoping to introduce, during July 2012, a Family Carer Support Group. Many of our clients are cared for by a partner or a child and this can also isolate family carers from their community.
The aim of these sessions will be:

  • To enhance family carers' knowledge base and skills
  • To provide coping strategies
  • To promote a positive approach to caring
  • To introduce carers to a support network
The sessions will be for 2 hours initially, from 10.15-12.15pm once every 4 weeks so that family carers may be able to use Worcs.C.C Flexi-break vouchers for us to stay with our client, thereby enabling the carer to attend the support group.

We are currently investigating a potential source of funding for these sessions which would enable us to offer them at a nominal charge to family carers but, as this has not been confirmed, we can only ask for expressions of interest at this stage.

If you would like further more detailed information on any of the above, please click here to submit an enquiry form or contact us on 01386 47888 between 9am to 5pm.
